15 Injured After Dump Truck Derails Houston METRORail Car

HOUSTON – A dump truck hit and derailed a METRORail car Oct. 4 in downtown Houston, sending at least 15 people to the hospital.

The dump truck driver was later cited for running a red light, cause the Houston accident.

The accident occurred just before 9 a.m. at Main and Capitol streets. The train’s operator and the truck driver were among the injured. Both suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

Some passengers were given neck braces before being loaded into ambulances on stretchers.
